If you’re a contractor working from home this Christmas season, we have a few tricks up our sleeve to help you feel less bah humbug and a little more ho ho ho! Carry on reading for 5 ways to celebrate the festive season with your virtual team.
Host a virtual quiz
We know you don’t necessarily want to re-live lockdown, but engaging in a virtual quiz with your teammates always goes down well. If you don’t have time to put one together, don’t worry – the world wide web has your back. This could replace one of your usual morning meetings on the last week of work before Christmas, or schedule it for the end of the day and encourage attendees to bring a festive hot chocolate, red wine or Baileys to accompany them.
E-cards
Show your appreciation for your colleagues’ hard work by sending them a virtual card! There are plenty of websites where you can send a festive greeting for free and at very little effort. We guarantee this will help brighten someone’s day, especially if you include a personalised message.
Christmas jumper day
Organise a Christmas jumper day to get your colleagues in the festive spirit! Share your outfit choices over a video call and make it competitive if you so wish. This is also a great way to raise money for charity, so make sure to share the link to your chosen cause at the end of the virtual meet-up.
Scavenger hunt
Even if your team is separated by seas, you can still enjoy a scavenger hunt together! Make a list of items for participants to locate in their hometown, such as the best Christmas light display, ugliest Christmas jumper in the shops and prettiest wreath. Get each person to take a picture of the item once they’ve found it and share it in the team’s group chat so people can vote for their favourite images. This is also a fantastic icebreaker for newbies or contractors who haven’t had the opportunity to get to know everyone yet.
Baking competition
Ready, set, bake! Why not set your team the challenge of making something sweet and festive? At the end of the competition, the designated judge can decide which treat looks the best and crown the winner. If your team is lucky enough to live in the same city then you can try each other’s Christmas bakes too, but if not we’re sure your family won’t mind having a taste!
Mint Umbrella wishes all contractors a Happy Christmas and a brilliant New Year full of health, happiness and projects galore…
