If you’ve read the news lately, you’ll notice that AI is the talk of the town. In the job world, there has been much discussion around automated interviews and whether this could become the new norm for hopeful candidates.
In this blog, we share our top 3 tips for being successful in an AI-led interview.
1.Remove any distractions
Have a clear background, and remove any distractions from the camera view e.g. messy kitchens or rogue housemates/family members! You may also wish to blur your background (depending on what platform the interview is being hosted on). Also ensure that you are well lit so that the AI can pick up on your face easily. Try sitting in front of a window or shining a lamp towards you.
- Communicate clearly
Deliver your answers clearly and at a steady pace so that the ‘robot’ can understand what you’re trying to communicate. It may also be listening out for keywords that match the job description, so make sure to study the job post again for the big day.
Top tip: Don’t forget about paralinguistic communication! Maintain good posture, make eye contact and remember that just because you’re not talking to a human doesn’t mean you’re not being analysed on your body language.
- Trial and error
One of the worst things that could happen during an automated interview is technology failing you. To mitigate this risk, don’t forget to do a trial run before the interview. Record yourself answering a practice question so you can assess whether the lighting, sound and camera are all working.
Good luck to all our contractors interviewing in the coming weeks! You got this.
