Mint Umbrella is proud to be Professional Passport approved. But what does that mean exactly? Carry on reading to find out…
What does it mean when an umbrella provider is Professional Passport approved?
In short, this means the provider is compliant with UK tax laws and regulations. More below…
What is Professional Passport?
Professional Passport is an independent body which provides unbiased advice and guidance on payroll compliance. Its compliance standards exist to ensure that umbrellas and other providers follow HMRC tax rules/legislations.
These standards are revised on a regular basis to ensure they are promoting best practices across the sector.
The regulator’s website states: ‘Often legislation does not change but how this is interpreted and enforced can so we ensure any enforcement changes are reflected in our compliance standards.’
Professional Passport also works with government departments and industry trade bodies to address issues and create solutions that align with regulations and are practical in the business world.
Compliance review standards have been developed for the following areas:
- Agency Payroll Bureau
- Umbrella – both with and without expenses
- Professional Employment Organisations [PEO]
- Joint Employment
- CIS
- Accountancy
Why is it a reliable source?
Professional Passport is an organisation independent of any provider, agency or end client, meaning it can provide objective advice and guidance to workers.
It is also the first compliance accreditation to be supported by blue chip insurance.
You can find out more on the Professional Passport website.
Remember, when looking for an umbrella provider you should always ensure it is Professional Passport approved or FCSA accredited.
